Thematic output
During our community-based research on waste management, we focused on how local residents managed waste and the challenges they faced in properly disposing of materials. One of the major findings was that the community lacked access to proper recycling facilities, and there was a general lack of awareness about effective waste segregation.
My groupmates and I worked with local leaders and residents to introduce educational workshops and demonstrate how separating organic waste from recyclables could reduce landfill waste and promote sustainability. It wasn’t just about offering a solution, but about understanding the specific barriers the community faced, like limited infrastructure or cultural habits around waste. By engaging with them directly and collaboratively, we felt the project had real potential to make a lasting impact on both the environment and the community's well-being.On the day of our presentation, we will share the findings from our community-based research on waste management in Ayusan And Paoa Our research involved direct interaction with local residents to understand the challenges they face regarding waste disposal and how these issues affect the environment and daily life.
Throughout the presentation, we will walk through the data we collected via surveys, interviews, and observations, shedding light on barriers like the lack of recycling facilities, limited public knowledge on waste segregation, and inconsistent waste collection. We’ll also share the insights gathered from community members, highlighting their ideas and concerns.
Finally, we will present actionable recommendations for improving waste management in the community. These include solutions like installing more recycling bins, conducting educational campaigns to raise awareness about waste segregation, and partnering with local organizations to implement these changes effectively.By the end of our presentation, we aim to inspire the community to take collective action toward a more sustainable waste management system, one that benefits both the environment and the people living in it
